The lower part of Mount Everest - Nepali call him "Sagarmatha" and the Tibetan people call him "Chomolungma" - is from this perspective covered by Mount Nuptse.

Sherpa villages Khumjung and Khunde

The legendare Hillary Hospital is located in the Sherpa village Khunde (3840 m) above Namche Bazar. Khumjung (3790 m), formarly capital of the Sherpa land was founded approximately 500 years ago and is one of the first settlements in Khumbu region. A long Mani-wall leads into the town centre.
Most Sherpas who work for Everest ascent are born and raised in the small mountain villages Khumjung, Khunde, Mende or Thame on about 4000 m altitude.

Monastery Tengboche

The buddhist monastery Tengboche (3867 m) wellknown for the beautiful lookout is one of the most famous spirituell locations in Khumbu. When the Trompets and drums of the monks arouse us from sleep, its time to join the early morning prayer ceremony "Putscha".
