New Zealand, the Land of the long white cloud
Bay of Islands
The Bay of Islands is located 60 km north of Whangarei. With his mild climate and beautiful beaches it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand. The starting point for tours to explore the Bay of Islands is the small town of Paihia.
Russell
Russell is a sleepy old whale and swordfish hunting town. The car ferry operates from Opua about every half an hour.
Be sure to take a look at the 1st floor of the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club right on the seafront.
At sunset, we make a short hike to Flag Hill, a very beautiful vantage point.
Back in Opua we had an excellent dinner directly at the ferry house at STELLA MARIS CAFE - mainly fish dishes.
Hole in the Rock
Half-day boat ride from Paihia to the Bay of Islands, the famous Hole in the Rock and for Dolphin Watching.
Whaitangi
Maori Museum, War canoes, Folklore dance.
Ninty Mile Beach
to the Ninety Mile Beach with its huge sand dunes there are guided day trips with four-wheel drive vehicles (self driving is not allowed by most car rental companies).
