Hiking the Lycian way
The Lycian long distance hiking trail leads more than 500 km along the Turkish Riviera parallel to the coastline between Antalya and Fethiye. The Lycian civilization starts approx 500 years v.Chr. Lycia is the Land of Sarcophagi and rock tombs. Most of the walker start on the dreambeach Ölüdeniz near Fethiye. The Lycian way belongs to the ten most beautiful long distance hiking trails in the world and leads through dense woods and bleak stone landscapes, above steep rugged ridge of mountains and along the coast of the Turkish Riviera with deepblue or turquoise glowing sea, to scenic bays and ruinous antique cities of the Lycian peaple.
The Lycian path is marked homogeneous with red-white signs, the rather rare direction signs are yellow. However sometimes it is not easy to orient themselves. Detailed hiking maps are not available for the Lycian Way - also called Likya Yolu - only more or less detailed turn-by-turn directions and GPS tracks.
We are hiking the most beautiful part of the Lycian Way:
Ulupinar -> Fire fields Yanartas -> Cirali -> Maden bay -> Olympos -> Adrasan -> Myra -> Istlada -> Castle Simena -> Kale -> Üçagiz -> Aperlai -> Kas |
