Dunedin - nostalgic train station

An absolute highlight in the Scottish-styled city Dunedin is the Victorian-style train station dating back to 1906.
Designed by Georg A. Troup, the first official architect of the New Zealand Railroad, who also planned the stations in New Plymouth, Lower Hutt and Bluff, this masterpiece was created in the Flemish Renaissance architectural style. Dark basalt and bright limestone from the nearby quarries, known as Oamaru rocks, were the main building materials.
The New Zealand Railways Station Waiting Hall is adorned with large mosaics of railway cars, signals and locomotives. Also beautiful are the colorful railway station windows adorned with railway motifs and ornaments. Prominent Striking is the 37 m high clock tower of the station.
The gauge of the New Zealand railway is 1067 mm. The nostalgic station of Dunedin is one of the most beautiful train stations in the world and is absolutely worth seeing for railway enthusiasts.
