Temple city Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura, UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded in the 4th Century BC. by King Pankukabhaya and is the oldest Sinhalese King City. Anuradhapura was over 1400 years the capital of Sri Lanka. A total of 119 Sinhalese kings resided here.
The 120 m high and 1700 years old brick pagoda Abhayagiri Dagoba is currently surrounded by scaffolding for renovation. Inside the Pagoda we found some colorful Buddha statues.
