Lisbon the City of Light
For a first impression and fast exploring of the historic city center of Lisbon it is most suitable to use the nostalgic tram with the Line 28 (Eléctrico).
Lisbon ist build on seven hills, there are many viewpoints widespread over the whole city (Miradouros).
The most beautiful Miradouros
Elevator de Santa Justa:
The almost 100 years old steel construction (build 1902 from Mesnier du Ponsard, a student of Gustave Eifel) offers a magnificent View upon Lisbon. The elektric elevator leads to a viewplattform in 45 m elevation. A cast-iron spiral staircase goes up the last piece laloft to a Café.
Miradouro Nossa Senhora do Monte:
The most spectacular viewpoint of Lisbon in the district Graça. The chapel neighbouring is a famous location for wedding and christening.
Miradouro Santa Luzia:
Schöner Blick auf den Stadtteil Alfama und den Tejo.
Von der Haltestelle der Straßenbahnlinie 28 ist es auch nicht weit zum Castelo de São Jorge.
Parque Eduardo VII:
Vom oberen Ende des Parque Eduardo VII hat man eine sehr schöne Aussicht auf den Praça Marquês de Pombal.
Bairro Alto:
In der Oberstadt gibt es viele urige Kneipen und Restaurants wo man wie bei "Muttern" gut und preisgünstig speisen kann. Hinauf kommt man bequem mit der Standseilbahn, dem Elevador da Glória.
Belém:
Orientalisch mutet das 1571 erbaute Hieronymuskloster an.
Das Museu Nacional dos Coches ist das größte Kutschenmuseum der Welt.
Confeitaria dos Pastéis de Belém:
Cafe mit den berühmtesten Cremetörtchen Lissabons. Sie werden mit Zimt bestreut und warm verkauft.
Torre de Belém:
Der 1515 bis 1521 erbaute Wachturm für den Lissaboner Hafen ist eines der Wahrzeichen Lissabons.
Auf dem Weg nach Belém fährt man an einer imposanten, der Golden Gate Bridge nachempfundenen Hängebrücke über den Tejo vorbei.
