City tour, sight seeing in Palermo

If you are the first time in Palermo, for a quick overview of the highlights of Palermo the roundtrip with the sightseeing bus is usefull. There are offered two city tours - red and blue. The blue line also goes to Monreale sporadically.

Glamorous Art Nouveau style seaside resort Mondello

Mondello is located on the bay embedded between the Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo. The fine sandy bay of Mondello is considered the "beach of Palermo". There are many Art Nouveau villas of rich Palermitans and of course the sea bridge built on stilts as beautiful Spa house (stabilimento balneare) dating back to the year 1912.

Pilgrimage route to Monte Pellegrino

Norman, Arabic, and Byzantine architectural style in the cloister of the monastery of Monreale

Golden Cathedral of Monreale

Jahrhunderts.

Trapani, Mountain village Erice

Like an eagle's nest with sensational views downto the sea of ??houses in the harbour city Trapani is located the mountain village of Erice 750 m above the sea on a rock. The most beautiful journey is by using the cable car Funivia starting from the eastern outskirts of Trapani. In strong wind or Scirocco, the cable car is not operating, of course. In that case you can take rental car up the steep serpentine road. The mountain village Erice is famous for its delicious fruits made ??of marzipan.

Sun bathing with Caribbean feeling in San Vito lo Capo

In San Vito lo Capo located in front of the wild and rugged rocky scenery of Monte Monaco is one of the most beautiful beaches of Sicily with fine sand and palm trees. Unfortunately, the sea water end of April is still icy cold.

Hiking Monte Monaco summit

The easy 3.5 hour hike up to the summit of Monte Monaco you should not miss. We start at a small parking lot near the Villa Sara. First, it goes steeply uphill in switchbacks, then gently rising to a high ridge, passing a alpine pasture and disused marble quarries. From the summit cross we have a unique view of the azure blue crescent shaped bay of San Vito lo Capo. 532 m vertical rock wall into the yawning depths. The recorded GPS track describes the light, yet uniquely beautiful hike to Monte Monaco.

Hiking in the Nature Park Lo Zingaro

Anthike Tempel in Selinunte
