Where to stay in Barcelona Nachdem die Hotelpreise in Barcelona are very high and mostly without Breackfast, we decided for a Appartement. Our Appartement from Holidays in Barcelona is located central in a narrow street behind Plaça Cataluña and nevertheless absolut quiet. Las Ramblas, Barri Gòtic, Palau de la Musica, the shopping mall - all locations are reachable in a few minutes by foot. Staircase and Appartment sind neu renoviert, living room equiped with audio, TV and aircondition, the kitchen fully equipped with electrik cooker, Microwave, refrigerator with separate icebox, washing machine, Laminat floor. An der liebevollen Einrichtung merkt man sofort, dass die Vermieter sich viel Mühe geben, that the guests feel as comfortable like at home. A small terrasse with lawn chairs and parasol in the courtyard invites to have breackfast outdoors. Two bakeries with fresh bread and delicious Croissants are in walking distance.

Barcelona Card and Bus Tourístic

For the 1. Day in Barcelona it is usefull to make the fullday city sight-seeing tour with an open double-decker bus Bus Turístic, so you get a good overall impression of the Megacity. There are 3 lines - red, blue and green. Im Fahrpreis enthalten ist auch ein Rabattheftchen.
On 2.,3. and 4. Day we bought the Barcelona Card.
The 5. Day is reserved to a daytrip to Monastery Montserrat.
Die Barcelona Card ermöglicht freie Fahrt mit Bus und Metro im gesamten Stadtgebiet. Additional there is discount beim entrence fee to many Museums and churches. Die Barcelona Card kann im Internet bei Turisme de Barcelona with 10 % discount bestellt werden. Abhohlen kann man die Karte am airport in Barcelona Terminal A oder B und im Infozentrum an der Plaça Catalunya.
Die Rabatthefte ergänzen sich teilweise, so sind Rabatte für Funicular, Tramvia Blau und Tot Montserrat Card nur im Bus Turístic Heft.
Barcelona is a very expensive city, it can be worth evaluating the discount-Dschungel and spending time on that. Da könnt Ihr in 5 Tagen schnell mal 50 bis 100 € pro Person einsparen.

Tot Montserrat Card

For a daytrip to Monastery Montserrat you can buy the Tot Montserrat Card, including 30 € Metro + FGC-Trail from Plaça d'Espanya + Rack train + Funiculars + Museum + Audiovisual Show und sogar ein Mittagessen enthalten (multilangual Infoflyer in pdf-Format).
The FGC-train leaves daily from Plaça d'Espanya at 8.36 o'clock and each additional hour.

Alternativ könnt Ihr natürlich auch organisiert mit Catalunya Busturistic ab der Plaça Catalunya für 60 € pro Person (-3 € Rabatt aus dem Bus Turistic Heftchen) fahren. Das Programm besteht aus einer kombinierten Besichtigungstour vineyard Torres -> Monastery Montserrat -> seaside resort Sitges.
Disadvantage: Short time stay on the monastery mountain, Funicular Bergbahn zum Montserrat Gipfel kostet zusätzlich.

Best traveltime

Obwohl in the off-season noch wahnsinnig viele Touristen in Barcelona Urlaub machten (lange Schlangen am Bus Turístic und vor der Sagrada Familia), muss man ab dem 1. Oktober doch einige Einschränkungen in Kauf nehmen:

Abendliche Wasserspiele mit Music an der Plaça d'Espagna only Saturdays,
amusement park Tibidabor nur noch am weekend geöffnet,
Museen schliessen teilweise schon earlier.

For visiting Palau de la Musica musste man sich mindestens einen Tag im Voraus anmelden.

Where to stay at Costa Brava

Im bergigen Hinterland der Costa Brava gibt es many beautiful ancient castles and Bauernhöfe, die Tourismus Rural anbieten.

We resided at Can Massa by Carmen and Josep Massa in La Pera. Die rustikal eingerichteten Zimmer sind um den Speiseraum gruppiert. The breakfast was excellent.
Nur die Suche nach einem geeigneten Restaurant for the evening meal gestaltete sich im Oktober etwas schwierig, da Lokale entweder schon zu hatten oder extrem teuer waren. Halbpension wäre da schon schön.

Das handgeschnitzte Bett ist schon mehr als 200 Jahre alt.

Ich habe auch einige andere schöne Landgüter angefragt, aber die waren Anfang Oktober noch voll belegt:

Can Mas, a idyllic country estate from the 17th century
El Moli, ein mit dem Tourist Premium Award 1996 ausgezeichneter Gutshof near Siurana
Sant Dionis, a castle from the 13. Jhd. near Campllong

Weiterhin gibt es umfangreiche Verzeichnisse mit Turismo Rural an der Costa Brava wie z.B. Top Rural oder Turisme Rural Girona.

Rent a car

For our 4-day Costa Brava roundtrip we rent a Seat Ibiza from CarDelMar. CarDelMar offers rent a cars with unlimited kilometres travelled and full ensurance without own risk.
The original cardealer was Europcar, CarDelMar is only a broker with very attractive prices.

Vor our pleasure we got in the smallest rent category a quick Seat Ibiza Turbodiesel.
Diesel kostete im Oktober 2006 in Spanien rund 93 Cent pro Liter.

Autobahnmaut

Die Costa Brava highway A7 is toll road, so kostet das Stück von Barcelona nach Girona 5,95 € und von Girona nach Figueres 2,45 € jeweils einfache Fahrstrecke.
